BEACHES

Gruissan Plage
If you enjoy a trip out, Gruissan Place is a great beach to visit. At twenty kilometres from Narbonne, the beach here was used as the setting for the film, Betty Blue (known as 37.2 degres le matin in French) and you will find unusual beach huts on stilts that featured in some of the location shots.

La Franqui
This is our nearest beach, it's not too commercial and has a range of places to eat from nice seafood to Pizza. Whilst the village can appear busy it has a huge expanse of sand so doesn’t feel at all busy on the beach.
There is a second La Franqui beach that you can drive on and this is brilliant for wind surfing and sand surfing!

Leucate Plage
Relaxing and great for swimming. It has a few nice places for lunch with Plat de Jour and a small childrens play area. Avoid climbing around the rocks to the narrow beach beyond unless you want the nudist part!

Argeles Plage
Also slightly further afield, this is a lovely beach with stunning views of the Pyrenees. The main beach although near amenities can be packed, so we avoid it and head for
North beach. You will walk past apartments and then through pines to the beach. Parking is a bit harder here than our local beaches in high season.
